What is an International Will?
Many of your UK affairs can be dealt with in the UK, but if you have assets in other countries – including assets held offshore – then you may need an International Will.
The difficulty lies in the fact that the laws of probate are different in different countries.
This can make the distribution of your assets extremely complicated and time-consuming. Besides domicile, your nationality and where your assets are actually held could all be taken into consideration.
As well as differences in probate regarding land and property held abroad, different countries also have different rules regarding moveable assets such as possessions, valuables and cash funds – and different jurisdictions (areas with their own legal systems) can even be in place within the same country.
We are experts in Spanish and European wills and probate and we also have expertise regarding Wills worldwide so whether you hold assets in one, or more than one country or jurisdiction, we can advise you.
An international Will can solve the complicated problem of how best to protect any assets that are held abroad, protecting your wealth both now and for the future, so get in touch.
We can help.
We can help to protect your legacy by making sure that your Will is valid in all relevant countries and jurisdictions, maximising your assets in the most tax efficient way for the future.
For assets held in two or more countries, it is usually necessary to obtain probate or the equivalent in the countries where the assets are situated. We can support you through the complex legalities.
